Each season, Stoa selects a theme to shape our competitive goals, character, and community. This year’s theme is both urgent and eternal: Rooted in Truth.

“Rooted” suggests depth, resilience, and hidden strength. Colossians 2:6–7 urges us to live in Christ—rooted, built up, and strengthened in faith. In a culture that often trades truth for popularity, being rooted means standing firm in what is lasting and right. Truth is not just about recognizing facts—it is about loving what aligns with God’s Word. Blaise Pascal wrote, “Unless we love the truth, we cannot know it.” That love lies at the heart of a Biblical worldview.

At Stoa, we sharpen communication skills through speech and debate, but more importantly, we cultivate wise communicators—students who speak with integrity, clarity, and Christ-centered purpose. Being rooted means preparing with intention, listening with humility, and using our words to build up, not tear down. Trees flourish together, not alone—so let’s grow in a community of faith, encouragement, and accountability.

As we enter the coming season, we reflect on Stoa’s Second Foundational Pillar: We have a Biblical worldview. May truth shape arguments, refine delivery, and guide interactions—both in competition and beyond—as you grow in wisdom and influence through speech and debate.
