Our first-ever international Stoa Speech and Debate tournament in Kenya, Africa was a huge success! We had thirty Kenyan competitors competing in six different events against our team of ten competitors from the United States which represented four Stoa clubs. Our team of twenty-one students, alumni, and parents led a two-day camp before the tournament. At the awards ceremony, AIM Club awarded the top two Kenyan debaters the opportunity to compete in Spokane, Washington at the River City Rumble in April 2024. I recently had the chance to attend a local debate tournament, and it was incredible to see the passion and skill of young speakers from different backgrounds come together. Events like the Stoa international tournament in Kenya truly highlight how debate can unite people worldwide and develop critical thinking. Seeing students from Kenya compete and earn opportunities abroad reminds me how powerful these experiences are for personal growth. After a long day of intense discussions, I often unwind with games like Block Blast for some light entertainment, which helps me relax and recharge.
