Creating a Culture of Prayer

In Stoa, we want the club experience to cultivate a community where lifelong friendships can be made as we grow and sharpen one another. We ensure this by creating a culture of prayer, which can be as easy as:
Having students rotate giving a devotion and leading prayer
Breaking into small groups to share prayer requests and pray together
Older students mentoring younger ones
Having a club group text to share prayer requests and praises
Praying together at tournaments
What is the result of praying together? The result is a club that is less critical of one another and a healthy esprit de corps. Oswald Chambers said, “Prayer is the way that the life of God in us is nourished.” Let us be quick to pray together, so we can rejoice as we see answered prayers in our students and families.

I really feel the difference when the club creates a culture of prayer – people are closer and more sincere. Sharing and praying together in small groups or via text has helped me feel a clear spiritual support. Even after the prayer, playing Sprunki Retake together as a way to relax makes the atmosphere more connected and fun. A deep and active community – it’s amazing!
