Now that NITOC is a wrap, you can all take a breath. We had a great competition season and can start thinking about next year. If you will be debating next season, there is one thing you really should do this summer. You guessed it, summer debate camp! This is a great time to see all your debate friends and get a jump on the new season. You will get to research, study, help train new debaters, write new cases, perform drills, and (drumroll) debate. Take a much needed break, get some sun, dust off your flow pads, and register for camp. When the competition season starts in the fall, you will be glad you did!

I read the free press resolution and immediately thought about last season’s energy policy debates. Prioritizing objectivity over advocacy sounds clean in theory, but in rounds the line gets fuzzy fast. For me, keeping a consistent flow sheet for each practice round helped me see where evidence clashed. I’m planning to use summer camp to test cases before fall, not just drill.

Thanks for the update! I'm glad to see the spring vote results, especially that Triple the Value passed. The LD resolution on press objectivity is a great topic for debate. Looking forward to the upcoming resolutions and NITOC 2024. Also, this reminds me of the Librarian Game I played last week – such a fun way to engage with debate topics!

Just like when I take a break between meetings to check updates, scrolling through these debate schedules makes me think how organizing arguments is a bit like planning strategies in stick war online – both need that summer prep!
