NITOC 2010 Debate Seedings

The Stoa Debate Seedings, for both Team Policy and Lincoln Douglas debate, are posted at the bottom of this page. Both lists contain the students/teams competing at NITOC and their seeding based on the original formula published by Stoa.

Why are the Stoa Debate Seedings different from the National Debate Rankings?
 
Stoa published its guidelines for qualification and seeding to the Stoa National Invitational Tournament of Champions in January of this year. The Stoa Board decided that changes to the document, and the process it represents, should not be made midseason. Therefore, Stoa will honor that document at this year’s NITOC. Students who have been keeping track of their own debate point totals will find that information remains unaltered.
 
Because the method for tabulating the National Debate Rankings is somewhat different than the formula set forth for Stoa seedings, a separate page is needed. The difference only occurs in the process of ranking debaters. The speech rankings/seedings are unaffected as they are the same for the National Rankings and the Stoa NITOC rankings. The National Rankings reflect the input of families from around the nation and from experience gained while the National Rankings website was in beta testing.
