Parliamentary Debate (aka Parli)
Parli is NOT a 2012 NITOC event.
Parliamentary Debate continues to be piloted by Stoa. While Parli will not be competed at the 2012 Stoa NITOC many tournaments offer this form of debate.
Parliamentary debate (modeled after the British House of Parliament) is an extemporaneous two-on-two debate where teams debate resolutions that they receive 15 minutes before the round. The limited prep time sets the stage for a competitive forum that emphasizes rigorous argumentation, logical analysis, quick thinking, breadth of knowledge, and rhetorical ability over preparation of evidence. Format Two Teams:
Team 1: Government Prime Minister (PM) Member of the Government (MG)
Team 2: Opposition Leader of the Opposition (LO) Member of the Opposition (MO)
