From today's StoaByte:Excursus on Tournament Size Getting one’s mind around the conundrum of tournament size is rather like trying to follow the contours of a moebius strip – one goes through all the possible sides of the issue but ends up at the starting point without ever quite grasping how it happened (follow that?). This NITOC is officially the largest homeschool tournament ever. Last year's NITOC had the most students ever, besting the California Concordia tournament (the blue whale among California’s cetacean-sized competitions), but Concordia still had more overall speeches and debates competed. By befuddling contrast, this year’s NITOC has actually outstripped Concordia in the number of overall speeches and debates (making it the brontosaurus among dinosaurs?), thus catapulting NITOC for the first time ever in the history of Christian forensics competitions into the “largest overall competition” spot. |

Point your browser to the NITOC Competitor Lists Page to see who is attending this year's NITOC. For some of you, these will just be names on a list, but two weeks from now God will have knit your hearts together as friends. Of course, others you will want to check out the debate competition. Congratulations to all whose names are listed. We look forward to seeing all of you in one week! |
